Languages
This site is available in four languages: English,
German (Deutsch), French (Français) and Luxembourgish (Lëtzebuergesch).
You can choose your preferred language at the very beginning or change it at any
time with the language entry in the left-side menu.
Where to start?
Select the Surnames entry in the left side menu or enter a
name in the search form. To facilitate the navigation in the tree, the
following conventions have been taken:
Abbreviations
The following abbreviations are used:
First names
In Luxembourg, first names were recorded in Latin, German
or French, depending on the type of record and the time period. On this site,
the first names of persons who lived in Luxembourg have been mostly standardized
in French as is the usual practice today. A list with the most frequent first
names and their equivalent in the different languages is available
here.
Printing
All pages print without the header and menu parts. This
functionality, as the whole site, has been tested with Firefox, Chrome, Opera and IE.
Background colour printing should be enabled in your browser to give the best
result.
Documents
Documents (see the corresponding menu entry) are only
available in PDF Format (requires
Adobe Reader). The documents do not exist in all languages. The available
language is indicated as follows: [en] for English, [fr] for French, [de] for
German.
Login & Forms
At the login, you can choose, if you want, the option
"Stay logged in on this computer" to memorize your connection parameters from
one session to the next. In this case, a cookie is set on your computer until
you log out (through the menu) or until you delete all cookies from your
computer. Do not use this option on a computer that is publicly accessible.
Forms contain a security code that you have to fill in before the form can be sent. This is not applicable to registered users. About this site
